Renewal
Renewal
Renewal is a painting about not being afraid of your capabilities, but to ride them as far and as fast as they will go, until the wheels burn off, and to be humble about it.
Back when the story of David fighting Goliath was written, a pebble in the hand of a skilled and experienced slingshot operator was the equivalent of a sniper's rifle. So, while Goliath was a large and loud, David had the edge.
This is a painting about finding out what you're born for.
For discovering what you excel at in life and what you love to do, and, once you find it, to explore and hone it into a skill that can carry you through life into a meaningful existence.
It's also about balancing every aspect of your power and strength with your humility and compassion. And, about not seeing your personal victories as defeating others, but as an opportunity to learn more about what makes you the person you are.
David holds up the head of Goliath, not so much as an ego-driven gesture of victory, but more as a compassionate and humble statement of forward progression, of growing older and learning through experience. David takes the time to reflect and allows himself to mourn, to shed tears for his rival, before taking his stand as a conquerer.
This can equate to a young person leaving for the first time to set out alone, feeling the separation from home, from parents and siblings and pets, mourning the loss of childhood, and experiencing the loss, before setting out with newfound courage, prepared for an optimistic journey into the unknown.
It's a Talisman painting, set on a carpet of music, honoring the past as a rite of passage, looking to the future, aiming towards reaching goals and delving into yourself to find talents you never knew you had.
This is raw pigment and oils on canvas.
