As a visual artist, Michael Marisi Ornstein works with a wide range of materials including raw pigments from Kremer Pigments NYC, oil crayons, ink, aerosol, dyes, gesso, and latex paint. His surfaces are just as varied—canvas, linen, plexiglas, wood, dacron, metal, and any medium that suits the needs of the piece in progress.
Language plays a central role in Michael’s work, with some paintings incorporating entire plays alongside expressive portraits, as seen in his series Jail House Ballads. His paintings are intentionally left in a state of flux—unfinished and evolving—to invite the viewer into an interactive experience. Many works are transparent, designed to shift with the light, revealing hidden colors, textures, and imagery that transform with each glance.
In addition to his work as a visual artist, Michael is best known for his role as Chucky on Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC, with upcoming work in Netflix’s The Abandons. A veteran of stage and screen, he originated the role of Louis in the world premiere of Angels in America and has appeared in numerous acclaimed films, TV series, and independent projects.
