François Fressinier

François Fressinier was born in Cognac, France in 1968, the son of two portrait photographers, which meant he grew up watching light and composition get built before his eyes long before he ever picked up a brush. That early education shows in every canvas: serene women rendered against textured, dreamlike backgrounds, painted with a technical control that owes as much to the Old Masters as it does to his own eye.

Trained at École Brassart and shaped by Rembrandt, Bonnard, and the Pre-Raphaelites, Fressinier paints portraits that feel less like likenesses and more like quiet moments of introspection, beauty rendered slowly enough to actually look at. His work is collected and exhibited internationally, and it holds up to that kind of scrutiny.
