Are You Okay?
by Thalo Halo
A freckled kid with a cowlick, straight off a 1950s diner sign, grinning and giving a thumbs up. "Are you okay" in pink letters that have come loose and started drifting. "I'm fine" running down the right edge in blue, which is what everyone says. A rocket launching out of the LIFE masthead in the corner, going somewhere better.
It's the painting for the person who answers "how are you" with "great" and means something else. Signed by Thalo, open edition, 12 inches square. It fits a kitchen, a hallway, or the inside of a suitcase on the way home.
