Dave Mechanica

A face pushes through a wall of gears, green eyes open, the rest of the man still mostly machine. Around him, the gears move: this is a kinetic sculpture, motorized and lit, and the whole thing runs when it's plugged in. The frame is carved to match, copper and silver scrollwork that turns into the mechanism at the edges, so there's no point where the frame stops and the work starts. Dale Mathis builds these by hand, and no two are exactly the same.
