Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

Quint, squinting out from under his cap. The shark comes up from the bottom corner, the Orca's name runs along the edge in yellow, and the title is spelled across the top in red glitter, actual glitter, the way a drive-in marquee should be. The rest is the movie in pieces: the two-note theme written out in chalk, the toast to our legs, the doll's eyes, the boat you're going to need, and the song Quint sings when he thinks it's over.

Thalo paints it the way you remember it rather than the way it looks, which is why it works. For the beach house, the boat, or anyone who still won't swim at night.
