Ode to Optimism Diptych
Ode to Optimism Diptych
Zigzags of orange, blue, pink, and green cut across a field of bright yellow, split across two canvases that read as one continuous, restless composition. Robert Standish's "Ode to Optimism Diptych" carries the same layered, high-energy technique that defines his current body of work, a hard turn from the photorealism he spent his early career mastering before walking away from it in search of something freer.
Drawing on his psychology degree from Antioch University, his layering technique is intentional and instinctive at once, built to invite the viewer to find their own meaning in it. His work sits in the permanent collections of LACMA, JPMorgan Chase, Stanford University, and the Crocker Art Museum, and has appeared in Vogue Mexico and ELLE China.
Original acrylic on canvas, two piece set. Each canvas 36" x 24", 36" x 48" overall when displayed together. 2025. Shop online or visit Monarch Gallery at 910 Duval Street, Key West.
