She Blushed (Studio Edition)

Marilyn, chin up, eyes half closed, the only color in the whole thing a little pink on her lips and cheeks. The rest is sepia, scratched and dragged across a slab of Venetian plaster so the background looks torn and the hair looks like it was drawn one strand at a time. The surface has a shine to it in person that a photograph loses. Walk past it and she moves.

The frame is black steel, riveted, with cut blades at the corners and a silver smear across the top like someone took a grinder to it on purpose. Which Scotty did. It's the right thing for a bedroom, a dressing room, or the office of someone who's seen every photo of her and wanted one that isn't a photo.
